Atlanta’s Fastest-Growing Airline Announces Major Expansion, Increasing Departures by 40 Percent Year-Over-Year and Adding A Number of Exciting New Destinations, Including Aruba and Honduras
Ultra-low Fare Service to More than 50 Destinations by Summer Lowering the Cost of Flying for Atlantans; Fares as Low as $29
ATLANTA – February 27, 2025 – Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: ULCC) joined officials from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) today to announce a major expansion of operations for the ultra-low cost carrier at ATL. By summer, Frontier will increase departures by 40 percent year-over-year, serving 52 destinations, including nine newly announced today. The new routes, including Oranjestad, Aruba, and San Pedro Sula, Honduras, will begin in late May and early June1.
Frontier is ATL’s fastest growing U.S. carrier based on destinations served. Atlanta also serves as a crew base for the airline with employment numbers expected to increase to more than 1,200 this year, including pilots, flight attendants, airport customer service, ground handling and maintenance personnel, resulting in an annual economic wage impact of more than $111 million.
“We are thrilled to partner with the leadership at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to significantly grow our operations and bring more low-cost flight options to Atlanta consumers. Our fares are 60 percent lower, on average, than other carriers operating from ATL2,” said James Dempsey, president, Frontier Airlines. “Not only are we committed to making flying affordable, but we are on a mission to deliver a better flight experience with many new enhancements coming in the next year, including a first-class seat option. Additionally, we are proud to be a part of the Atlanta community by providing meaningful and increasing employment opportunities.”
"As the third-largest airline in Atlanta, Frontier's investment in this market is a testament to the strength of our airport, our city, and our shared vision for continued growth," Jan Lennon, Hartsfield-Jackson interim general manager, said. "Their expansion aligns seamlessly with ATL's mission of supporting increased connectivity, driving economic impact, and ensuring travelers have more options than ever before. At Hartsfield-Jackson, we don't just accommodate growth — we prepare for it, we drive it, and we welcome it."
Dempsey added, “We are excited to have recently relocated our existing operations at ATL to newly-built gates on the E Concourse and want to thank our partners at ATL for the beautiful new facility.”
