Frontier Airlines Announces Nonstop Flights From Miami to Cancun

The New Service Enhances Frontier’s Already Robust Service from South Florida, Which Includes Six Additional New Routes that Were Previously Announced

MIAMI – Dec. 15, 2020 Low-fare carrier Frontier Airlines today announces augmented service from Miami International Airport (MIA) with new, nonstop flights to Cancun, Mexico beginning March 11, 2021. The new routes expand Frontier’s list of nonstop flights to 27 cities from Miami, including four international destinations. With today’s announcement, Frontier also confirms that service to Guatemala City and San Salvador will commence in April 2021. To celebrate this new service, Frontier is offering fares as low as $19*, which are available now at FlyFrontier.com.

“We’re excited to announce new, nonstop flights from Miami to Cancun beginning just in time for spring travel,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial, Frontier Airlines. “Frontier’s growth in Miami has been remarkable and these new routes complement our already broad range of destinations. Like all Frontier flights, this new service will adhere to our comprehensive health strategy, including required temperature screenings, mask wearing and enhanced cleaning on every aircraft.”

“I’m thrilled that Frontier will be expanding its service at MIA with six additional destinations and a total of 25 more weekly flights,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “With the investment that airlines like Frontier are making in Miami-Dade County, our tourism industry and economy will continue to rebound and recover from the pandemic.”

“Congratulations to Frontier on launching its first-ever international service from Miami, and for increasing its network at MIA to a total 27 cities,” said Lester Sola, MIA Director and CEO. “Domestically, Ontario is a completely new route for MIA, and its daily service to Orlando provides passengers another travel option between our two popular destinations. After exactly six years at MIA this month, and we are pleased to see that Frontier’s commitment to the Miami market is stronger than ever.”

Frontier is focused on more than low fares. The carrier offers customers the ability to customize travel to their needs and budget. For example, customers can purchase options a la carte or in one low-priced bundle called the WORKS. This bundle includes refundability, a carry-on bag, a checked bag, the best available seat, waived change fees, and priority boarding.

The airline’s frequent flier program, FRONTIER Miles, lets members enjoy many benefits as well as the ability to attain Elite status. Like the airline, FRONTIER Miles is family friendly, and the program makes it easy for families to enjoy the rewards together, including family pooling of miles. FRONTIER Miles is aptly named because you earn one mile for every mile flown – no funny formulas at Frontier. Whether customers travel a little or a lot, they will find FRONTIER Miles rewarding.

The health and safety of customers and team members is Frontier’s number one priority. With that in mind, Frontier introduced sweeping health and safety enhancements in 2020 that touch every step of a customer’s travel journey with the airline.

Frontier requires all customers and crew members wear a face covering throughout their travel journey. Plus, anyone flying with Frontier must complete a health acknowledgement prior to flying confirming that:

  • Neither they nor anyone in their household has exhibited Covid-19 related symptoms in the last 14 days
  • They will wash their hands/sanitize before boarding the flight
  • They understand and acknowledge the airline’s face covering policy and pre-boarding temperature screening policies

During flight, main cabin air is a mix of fresh air drawn from outside and air that has been passed through an air filtration system that features HEPA filters capable of capturing respiratory virus particles at more than 99.9% efficiency – similar to those used in hospital environments. Frontier’s modern all-Airbus fleet is among the youngest in the world - all aircraft currently in operation are less than four years old.
