Frontier Airlines Introduces Aircraft Fogging and Customer Health Acknowledgements

DENVER. April 8, 2020 – Frontier Airlines has introduced a highly effective fogging disinfection solution across its fleet and has implemented a new step in the check-in process that requires passengers to acknowledge and certify that they meet certain health-related requirements for travel. The company has also implemented a program to help facilitate social distancing on aircraft.

“We are strongly focused on implementing a variety of new processes and procedures that will further elevate our already stringent practices for sanitizing our aircraft and keeping our passengers healthy during travel,” said Barry Biffle, president and CEO of Frontier Airlines. “These efforts demonstrate our very strong commitment to our customers and team members. We want travelers to feel the same level of confidence onboard our aircraft as they do in their homes,” said Biffle.

New Aircraft Fogging Disinfection

The company recently implemented a new fogging disinfectant on board its aircraft that administers a safe, certified disinfecting solution proven to be effective against many viruses and diseases, including coronavirus. The fogging includes virtually every surface in the passenger cabin and the treatment is effective in killing viruses for up to 10 days. Planes are wiped down every night with disinfectant, as well.

New Health Acknowledgement at Check-In

Earlier this week, Frontier implemented a new program that requires passengers to accept a health acknowledgement prior to completing check-in via the company’s website or mobile app. Passengers are required to certify that:

  • Neither they nor anyone in their household has exhibited COVID19-related symptoms in the last 14 days
  • They will check their temperature before heading to the airport and not travel if they have a fever
  • They will wash their hands/sanitize before boarding the flight

All flight crews are operating under the same parameters.

Passenger Distancing on Aircraft

To support social distancing for those who need to travel in the coming weeks, the airline has undertaken measures to separate passengers by blocking every other row on its aircraft on flights departing through the first week of May.

Earlier this year, Frontier significantly amplified its cleaning protocols, overall, in response to the global spread of COVID-19. Aircraft receive thorough cleaning of customer touchpoints between flights and overnight, along with regular fogging treatments. During flight, main cabin air is a mix of fresh air drawn from outside and air that has been passed through an air filtration system that features HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filters capable of capturing respiratory virus particles at more than 99.7% efficiency -- similar to those used in hospital environments.

Travel Flexibility

The airline continues to offer travel flexibility so that customers may book with confidence. For any flights booked by April 15, 2020, travelers can make a one-time change and receive a credit without incurring a penalty. Additional details are available on www.flyfrontier.com.
